How to top up the pressure on a combi boiler If the pressure on your combi boiler drops below the 0.5 bar, the boiler could lock out until re-pressurised. Some boilers have a clock type dial and others have a digital LCD screen displaying the pressure. A combi boiler has a filling system on or near the boiler which is used to pressurise the system back to the required 1 bar. Until this is done, it’s likely you won’t have any heating or hot water. Each boiler will come with specific instructions about its pressure system. Check your user manual to see if you can re-pressurise your boiler yourself. It’s a good idea to monitor the pressure again (when the system is cold) from time to time. If you continue to see a drop in pressure it’s time to call on the help of an engineer. Handy hint: A gravity fed system doesn't need topping up as this is done via the feed and expansion tank automatically. These tanks are usually found in the loft.
